The Service Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining, troubleshooting, and commissioning advanced industrial 3D printing equipment. This position offers the opportunity to expand expertise in additive manufacturing processes while developing specialized knowledge across multiple technical domains. Key Responsibilities

Provide high-quality service and support to customers, ensuring maximum machine uptime and performance.

Develop a thorough understanding of complex 3D printing equipment, including:

Electrical and automation systems (PLC-based)

Mechanical assemblies and drive mechanisms
-
Laser and optical systems
-
Pneumatic, cooling, and inert gas systems
-

Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues with a focus on minimizing downtime.

Lead troubleshooting efforts both on-site and remotely, especially for automation and control system challenges.

Oversee installation and commissioning of equipment at customer facilities.

Deliver technical training to internal teams, subcontractors, and customer personnel.

Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to address escalated issues and provide feedback on equipment performance.

Contribute to process improvements, technical documentation, and the organization’s knowledge base.

Share expertise with colleagues to foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.

Stay flexible and open to cross-training across multiple technical areas.
Qualifications

Associate’s degree or higher in mechanical, electrical, or electronics engineering (equivalent experience may be considered).

Strong hands-on experience with automation and machine control systems, with advanced troubleshooting skills.

Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting, ideally with Beckhoff/TwinCAT and/or Siemens 840D platforms.

Solid background in electrical, controls, and mechanical troubleshooting for industrial machinery.

Ability to work independently, perform under pressure, and approach problem-solving logically.

Physical capability and interest in working directly with industrial additive manufacturing technology in both lab and customer environments.

Familiarity with additive post-processing methods (e.g., heat treatment, machining) is advantageous.

Experience in metal or other additive manufacturing processes is beneficial but not required.

Strong aptitude and enthusiasm for learning new technologies such as machine design, simulation, data acquisition, and sensor-based systems.

Excellent communication skills, including technical reporting, customer correspondence, and presentations.

Highly organized with strong planning and time-management abilities.

Team-oriented with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to a positive workplace culture.
