Job Title: National Field Service Technician
Location: Michigan, Indiana, Ohio
Salary: $80k – $90k
A leading provider of advanced manufacturing equipment is seeking a highly skilled and motivated National Electro-Mechanical Field Service Technician to support multi-spindle machines and 5-axis grinders across the United States. This field-based role involves traveling to customer sites to install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair complex electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities:

Install, maintain, and repair multi-spindle machines and 5-axis grinders at customer facilities nationwide.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control systems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Deliver clear, detailed service reports outlining repairs performed, parts used, and customer interactions.

Perform preventative maintenance to optimize machine performance and reduce downtime.

Support machine rebuild programs, including refurbishment and upgrades to enhance performance and longevity.

Provide on-site training and technical guidance to machine operators and maintenance personnel.

Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to resolve complex service issues.

Maintain an organized inventory of spare parts and manage timely restocking.

Ensure compliance with all workplace safety standards and practices.

Travel frequently, often on short notice, and remain on-site for extended periods when necessary.

Participate in training and collaborative activities at the parent company in Cologne, Germany, and the U.S. headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, as required.

Maintain up-to-date records of customer equipment, service history, and recommended follow-up actions.

Assist in other tasks and departmental needs during in-house assignments.
Qualifications:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.

At least 3 years of hands-on experience servicing or troubleshooting multi-spindle machines, 5-axis grinders, or similar advanced manufacturing equipment.

Solid knowledge of electrical systems, including PLCs and control architectures.

Proficiency with mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and CNC equipment.

Ability to interpret technical schematics, blueprints, and manuals.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proactive work ethic.

Excellent communication skills and customer-facing professionalism.

Willingness and flexibility to travel extensively, with frequent overnight stays.

Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Physical capability to lift and handle tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills:

Experience with CNC control systems such as Siemens, Fanuc, or Beckhoff.

Certifications in mechanical or electrical fields (e.g., Certified Maintenance Technician, Journeyman Electrician).

Familiarity with OSHA and other relevant safety standards and procedures.

Prior experience working with a machine tool manufacturer or industrial service provider.

This role is predominantly field-based, requiring work in various environments including production floors and remote industrial sites.

Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with potential for evening and weekend assignments based on customer needs.
